Self Portrait Marathon – 1 and 2

I keep complaining about a terrible memory all the time.  Decided to give it one more test.  I tried to make a self portrait from memory.  very little likeness.  i think i managed some of the features.  i had fun 😀

And then I tried to do one from Life but had to move a few times because of telephone calls and doorbells so now there are 3 different angles all combined into one.  I think I look scary in this one.  The nose reminds me of an animals nose!!  I'm happy with the feel of wavy hair. Hoping to do a better job with the next one.  I did a similar one from a photograph a few weeks ago and you can have a look at it here.

  1. I like the bottom drawing. It has a strong presence to it, certain elements are drawn with real authority. Powerful. You imply that you expect the truth from people in the expression.

  2. I like them both. Particularly like the second with the “flared nostrils” because of all the detail. The shading is wonderful.
