Sour

When things turn sour, dark clouds and thunderstorms are never far behind.

Sadly, the first image that came mind when i saw this weeks topic I had already illustrated for the topic citrus and so i decided to go with the next one.

Electricity : Illustration Friday

14 05 2008

I’m sort of stuck on this one. Not a new experience at all :D  I was fiddling around with the image and trying out a few possibilities. The first photo is of where the painting is at now. The second one is a crop that I thought might make it look better as the empty spaces seem too evenly spaced in the first. And the 3rd is based on this weeks Illustration Friday topic “electricity”. I’ve created a kind of spotlight effect on the subjects. I’m leaning towards the 3rd as it fills up the space better but I’m not sure I can paint that effect :P

What do you think? Any preferences? Any other suggestions?

Ekla cholo re

Sometimes, when there is a heavy load to bear, you have to walk alone.

This painting has been inspired by Tagore’s poem “Ekla cholo re” (walk alone) and is one of 10 paintings that go on display at the “Friends and Faces” exhibition starting tomorrow and continues till the end of the month.

If you happen to be in Dhaka, please drop by at the Art Gallery, Ground Floor, Standard Chartered Bank, Gulshan Avenue anytime between 9am and 8pm (except on holidays) and do leave us you comments. Look forward to seeing you there.

Garden : Illustration Friday

Garden

Imaginary gardens and dreaming up wonderful fragrances all the while standing at one of the busiest crossing in Dhaka directing traffic. He was taking a break and a deep breath when I spotted the traffic cop waiting at the crossing. It was the tilt of his head, the flared nostrils, the closed eyes, the feeling of calmness that made me feel he was smelling something specially wonderful.

Theory : Illustration Friday

Pen & Ink

I’m a firm believer of the theory that copying from the Masters will help in learning to draw and paint better. I’m participating in the Jan/Feb Van Gogh MOM over at WetCanvas! This is a copy of Van Gogh’s pen & ink “A Portrait of the Postman Joseph Roulin”
